Andre Leander Arendse (born June 27, 1967 in Cape Town, Western Cape) is a retired South African football (soccer) goalkeeper.

He played mostly for Oxford United, Fulham FC (both England), Cape Town Spurs, Santos, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United. He is also a co-presenter with SuperSport, South Africa's sporting channel(s).

He played for South Africa national football team. He was initially in the 1998 FIFA World Cup squad, but had to pull out due to injury. His replacement Paul Evans also withdrew through injury and was replaced by Simon Gopane, who was the first-ever goalkeeper to wear number 23 in the finals. He was later a participant at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, and retired from his international career in 2004.

In 1996, Andre Arendse won the African Cup of Nations title playing for South Africa. He holds the South African record for going 8 games in a row (+- 600 minutes) without conceding a goal for Bafana Bafana between 1996 and 1997, a
record that still stands and unofficially second in the world behind the former Italian great goalkeeper, Dino Zoff.

In 1997, Andre Arendse was selected to represent the continent of Africa, where an African team played an exhibition match against a European team. Later in 1997, Andre Arendse was selected by a FIFA panel to play in the FIFA allstars team against an Asian select team in Hong Kong. This particular game was played in honor of the hand over of Hong Kong which was still under British rule at the time. Upon leaving Hong Kong, Andre was requested to travel
directly to England, where he joined Fulham Football Club in London.

In 1998, Andre Arendse was selected to represent Bafana Bafana in the coveted World Cup in France. His dream was never-the-less shattered, when he ruptured a cartiledge in his knee thus forcing him to have an operation and withdraw from the Bafana team. All this occuring 1 day before the opening game
against the host nation, France.

In 2000, Andre Arendse helped Bafana Bafana finish in third place in the African Cup of Nations which was jointly staged by Ghana and Nigeria. In 2002, his dream was finally realised, when he was selected to don the number 1 goalkeeper's jersey for Bafana Bafana in the World Cup which was hosted jointly by Japan and Korea.

Later in 2002, Andre Arendse captained Bafana Bafana to Cosafa Cup victory, thereby being crowned champions of Southern Africa.

At the end of the 2002/2003 PSL season, Andre Arendse received the honor of being named PSL player of the year after winning the league title with Santos FC.

Andre is currently Supersport television guest presenter / analyst.

Andre Arendse is is a former Captain and goalkeeper of Bafana Bafana who speaks on the implication of the event coming to South Africa. In 1997 he was selected by FIFA to play in the FIFA allstars team against an Asian select team in Hong Kong. In 2002 he captained Bafana Bafana to Cosafa Cup victory.

In his talks he covers topics like how South Africa has been thrust into the spotlight, what opportunities this once-in-a-lifetime event will provide and which companies and industries have benefitted most from past World Cups.

He retired from his international career in 2004.
